2015 Magic 60
Date
Aug 26 2015
In an effort to engage community members in improving Minot, the Minot Young Professionals and Minot Area Community Foundation have partnered to create Magic 60, a microgrant program, as a vehicle for residents to make an impact on our community.
The premise of Magic 60 is that community members are asked to think of projects that add to the quality of life in Minot and present them to a judging panel. The only caveat: All presentations must be made in sixty seconds or less.
"At the Community Foundation, we are always looking for new ways to engage the community in giving back. Magic 60 will be a truly unique event for Minot and another way to capture the ideas of others," stated Ken Kitzman, President of the Minot Area Community Foundation.
Community members are encouraged to submit project ideas that run the gamete, from community art and music projects to events and charity programs. A panel of community members will judge each project throughout the event and make funding decisions before the event concludes. All potential projects must be able to be completed within sixty days of funding and must benefit the community.
$15,000 has been raised for the Magic 60 grant pool to be distributed to great ideas during the event, with $5,000 being given from the Minot Young Professionals and $10,000 from the Minot Area Community Foundation's Bremer Impact Fund.
"We are so grateful for the support of the Bremer Impact Fund and the ability to provide dollars to help better our community," remarked Jessica Henderson, President of Minot Young Professionals.
Magic 60 will be held on Tuesday, September 1st, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Mouse River Players Theatre. Individuals are encouraged to submit their project ideas by August 25th by emailing
minotndyp@gmail.com
with a brief description of their project, including a budget, and their contact information. Community members are also welcome to attend the event as spectators. For more information, interested individuals are asked to contact the Minot Area Community Foundation at 701.852.0646.
